Dear Members of Local 0222 Devens and BOP 2nd District:
I encourage my brothers and sisters to please continue standing in solidarity with your leadership and AFGE. As a retired BOP employee, I want to emphasize that it is you who makes the Union strong. I can also share, as someone who was part of the fight for your safety and job security, that this Agency (BOP) has never pushed Congress to take action. Stab-proof vests, pepper spray, uniform allowance, pay raises, your right to carry off duty—nothing; they have done nothing to improve your safety or your financial well-being. It was your Union, CPL-33, and AFGE that made those advancements possible. If the Agency truly cared, some of our fallen officers would still be here today.
With that said, please continue to support the Union; we are actively in court to reverse this situation and regain our contracts. Don't be misled by the untruths of the Agency. I know firsthand because I was one of many CPL leaders who bear the scars proving that our lives are always better with the Union. We have accomplished a lot to bring us to this day, but there is still much work left to do. Relying on the Director to get it done, I can say with 100% confidence that he will not succeed. Please continue to support your local and AFGE, and consider opting for E-Dues.
In Unity,
David Gonzalez
